I come to you to repair and service your van.
I qualified as a journeyman auto mechanic in 1985 (AFL-CIO International Brotherhood of Machinists and Aerospace Workers 2182. I passed all Automotive Service Excellence tests and attained qualification as; Master Auto Technician, Master Truck Technician and Master School Bus Technician. I owned and operated my own Auto and Truck repair facility for many years. The shop was certified for Smog, Brake and Lamp repairs with the California Bureau of Auto Repair. I've worked for decades on VCVs.
Rate based on per clock hour at your location. Time worked per day range from 8-14 hours depending on factors such as weather and work area accommodations. Does not include parts, consumables or expenses.
$50 minimum site visit. For locations further than 20 miles, add $2.00 per mile. If I'm flying, you provide roundtrip ticket, ground transportation to and from airport and your site. Under this option, you would provide all tools.
I prefer to work long daily hours, take few breaks and will require at least minimalist accommodations (to be agreed upon prior to visit). Once on-site, we discuss and verify the proposed scope of work, expectations, tentative schedule and payment details.
I love these vans and try to save as many as possible. I don't hire out to work on anything except 1964-70 VCVs unless all rates are doubled. Even then I would be inclined to politely decline.
I want to fix it right and with these ole gals that usually takes some time. Many times, previous work must be undone or corrected prior to proceeding with proper repairs. Once a job is done correctly, the repairs and/or upgrades should last for many years, probably decades.
I will respect your time, your van and your wishes. I ask these things in return.
